A Cessna-172 with four persons on board, including an instructor pilot and student pilot, was on a training flight from Karachi to Lahore. The aircraft called Multan ATC at 1611 hours and then reported Malta at 1625 hours, joining point for Lahore 62 nm East of Multan. The aircraft was maintaining FL 075 and gave his intention of proceeding to Lahore. At 1643 hours and 35 nm out, aircraft again called Multan and gave estimated time of landing at Multan on the hour i.e. 1700 hours. The reason for landing at Multan was announced to be "refuelling". At 1655 hours when 25 nm short of Multan, clearance to descend to FL 025 was taken. At 1705 the aircraft announced partial loss of power and gave intentions of forced landing. The aircraft forced landed in a cotton field 13 nm East of Multan after few minutes. The aircraft sustained minor airframe damage and there were no injuries to the persons on board.
