On 21st November 2006, PIA PK 308 was descending for Islamabad, at flight level 22000; it experienced a sudden steep dive at an extra ordinary rate, to flight level 16000. It caused minor injuries to passengers and cabin crew. The incident was reported to Airport Management by passengers and later documented by Air Traffic Services through daily incident occurrence report. It was discovered from digital flight data recorder (DFDR) that the aircraft has operated at speed, Mach number and negative Gs beyond it's maximum limits resulting in excessive vertical load factor on the aircraft structure.
