On February 26, 1982, a Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A300 (Registration: AP-BAX, Flight PK-304) was taxiing for departure from Karachi Airport to Lahore. While approaching the take-off point for Runway 25R, the crew noticed an abnormally high brake temperature of 400°C. The pilot elected to abandon the departure and return to the ramp. During the return taxi, a tyre burst and exploded, completely dislodging from the aircraft. Upon reaching the parking ramp, the No. 1 Brake assembly caught fire, which was quickly extinguished by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Fire Section.
