On 26 April 1983, Gulf Air Flight GFA-725, from Karachi to Dubai with 140 people on board, experienced a high-speed emergency during its takeoff run. At approximately 130 knots (below the decision speed of 141 knots), two tyres burst due to foreign object damage. The crew successfully aborted the takeoff using normal and alternate braking systems along with reverse thrust, stopping the aircraft on Taxiway Number One. While there were no injuries among the 127 passengers and 13 crew members, the aircraft sustained substantial damage, including the loss of three hydraulic systems.
