On January 15, 2022, an Air Arabia Airbus A321 (ABY531) and a SpiceJet Boeing 737 (SEJ711) were involved in a TCAS Resolution Advisory (RA) incident while flying over Karachi West airspace. As ABY531 climbed from FL320 to FL340, its high rate of climb—later attributed to moderate-to-severe turbulence—triggered a collision warning while overhead position IDEBA. The Air Arabia crew halted their climb at FL335, while the reciprocal SpiceJet flight, maintaining FL350, reported only a Traffic Advisory (TA). Although the aircraft came within 5 nautical miles of each other, a vertical separation of 1,500 feet was maintained, and standard separation was never technically infringed.
