On January 7, 1984, a WAPDA Cessna aircraft (Registration: AP-AYJ), commanded by Wing Commander (Retd.) W.D. Ahmed, was preparing for a return flight from Chashma Barrage to Lahore. While the aircraft was stationary at the beginning of Runway 06, the pilot was performing pre-takeoff checks, specifically winding up the turbocharger at 2000 RPM. During this high-power ground run, a WAPDA employee named Mr. Moosa Khan approached the aircraft from behind on a bicycle. Due to the high engine noise, dust and wind, he was likely oblivious to the danger as he rushed toward the cockpit, possibly to deliver a message. He was struck by the propeller and killed instantaneously. The investigation established that the pilot could not have seen the individual due to his concentration on the cockpit instruments. It was also noted that the airfield lacked security fencing, which might have prevented unauthorized access to the runway. The aircraft itself sustained no damage.
