On 15 August 2025, a DGAKP Mi-17 helicopter (Reg. AP-BIL) departed Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar, on a flood-relief mission to support rescue operations near Salarzai Village, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with five crew members on board. Owing to the inability to establish contact with the local administration and security concerns in the designated area, the flight was redirected to Boys Scout Helipad, Khar. During the flight, the helicopter encountered adverse weather conditions and communication difficulties, after which contact was lost. An extensive search operation was launched, and the wreckage was located later that day near Pindali Village. The helicopter had crashed into hilly terrain, resulting in the deaths of all five occupants. Their bodies were subsequently recovered and identified through forensic examination.
