On 11 July 2024, Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight SVA792, an Airbus A330-343 aircraft (registration HZ-AQ28), operating a scheduled international flight from Riyadh to Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar (OPPS), encountered an abnormal condition after landing. While the aircraft was holding at Taxiway-J after landing, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) observed smoke emanating from the left Main Landing Gear (MLG) area and promptly alerted the flight crew and dispatched the airport Fire and Rescue Services. No abnormal indications were initially reported in the cockpit. As the smoke increased, the flight crew shut down both engines as a precautionary measure. Subsequently, the aircraft lost its braking, and moved at low speed, coming to rest on unpaved ground adjacent to the Taxiway. A precautionary evacuation was carried out using emergency slides. A total of 276 passengers and 21 crew members were onboard; all occupants were evacuated safely, with no fatalities reported. A limited number of passengers sustained minor injuries and were provided first aid at the airport medical facility. The investigation determined that the occurrence was caused by the rupture of a brake hose on the left-hand MLG, resulting in hydraulic fluid leakage. The observed smoke was consistent with hydraulic fluid coming into contact with hot brake components.
