PK-660, a Fokker (F-27) took off from Peshawar at 0303 UTC on a schedule flight to Chitral with 51 souls on board including a crew of four. The flight was uneventful till its final approach at Chitral. The aircraft approached with 26.5° flaps instead of 40° at speeds in excess of 150 kts instead of 100 kts for the given weight of the aircraft. Resultantly, the aircraft touched down about 1000 feet down on a 5800 feet long runway at 140 kts i.e. about 50 kts higher touch down speeds. The aircraft could not be stopped on the runway and entered the unpaved overrun. The aircraft under carriages broke and it skidded on its fuselage before coming to a stop 500 feet beyond runway end. The aircraft and the left engine sustained major damage. There was, however, no fire, no collateral damages and no injuries to persons on board. The PIC was found under the influence of marijuana in post accident pathological tests.
