On 16 December 1982, PIA Boeing 747 aircraft AP-BAK operating Flight PK-300 landed safely at Islamabad and taxied normally to the parking bay without any abnormal indication reported by the crew. During the post-flight inspection, the duty engineer discovered that the drain mast of the No. 4 engine had sheared off from its base. The defect was subsequently reported after detailed inspection.
