On April 18, 1984, a Cessna 152 (AP-BAH) of Lahore Flying Club (LFC) departed Walton airfield for a training and license renewal flight. After performing steep turns at Balloki, the pilot became disoriented, misidentified the Sutlaj river as the Ravi, and was unable to pinpoint his position. The aircraft, which lacked onboard navigational aids like ADF or V.O.R., relayed its lost status through commercial flights PK-312 and PK-655. Despite commendable efforts by the crew of PK-655 to relay instructions from ATC Lahore, radar assistance from the P.A.F. was unsuccessful because they misidentified another radar return as the Cessna. Because the ground facilities lacked V.D.F. and the pilot could not identify any ground features, his position remained unknown. With only minutes of fuel endurance remaining and the aircraft nearing hilly terrain, the pilot was advised by PK-655 to perform a forced landing in a field.
