On May 23, 1984, flight PK-300 (a Boeing 747, registration AP-AYV) commanded by Capt. Hameed Malik landed at Islamabad Airport. Due to an unserviceable Tug Master, the aircraft was required to perform a clockwise turn for nose-out parking at Bay No. 10. Before the maneuver, the Captain warned the Duty Air Traffic Control Officer (DATCO) that loose empty containers and two light aircraft parked nearby made the area hazardous. DATCO stated they were unable to assist as the parking bays fell under Civil Aviation Authority jurisdiction. During the marshalling turn, the jet exhaust blew the empty containers across the apron, causing damage to an M.O.D.C. tent and two American aircraft, identified as C-12 D and C-12 A. Investigative efforts were hindered because the recording equipment for that specific day had malfunctioned.
