On July 9, 1987, a Cessna-180 aircraft (Registration Marks AP-AOU), piloted by Sqn Ldr (Retd) M. Anwar Ansari, departed Multan at 1005 hours for Bhawalpur to pick up commercial leaflets for the CIBA GEIGY COMPANY and carry out a promotional leaflet-dropping mission around the area. While the en-route flight was normal and uneventful, the aircraft suddenly veered and swung to the left immediately after touching down on Runway 26 at Bhawalpur Airport. The pilot promptly initiated corrective measures by applying the right rudder; however, the aircraft did not respond to the input, continued drifting off its course to the left, and veered completely off the runway. The aircraft eventually came to a stop approximately 100 yards away from the runway edge, facing a heading of 140 degrees.
